​madit is a workshop in Warrington making personalised signs and nameplates from solid hardwood.

 

The route here wasn't traditional. I came from engineering, not from a family of woodworkers. What drew me in was the precision — the point where a design has to survive contact with real material, real grain, real tolerances.

 

Everything is V-carved rather than laser-engraved or printed. The cut goes into the wood, the paint fills the groove, and the surface is sanded and sealed by hand afterwards. It takes longer. It also means the lettering is still there in ten years.
